Cardozo School of Law in 2014, an M.A. in Politics and International Relations from NYU in 2011, and a B.A. in English from Michigan State University in 2007. During her time in law school, Ms. McKinney served as an intern for the Honorable (Ret.) Ronald L. Ellis of the Southern District of New York, served as Annotations Editor for the Journal of Law and Gender (now the Journal of Equal Rights and Social Justice), co-founded the Philosophy and Law Society, and received the Jacob Burns Medal and the Cardozo Service & Achievement Award.
Ms. McKinney trained as a mediator in the Cardozo Divorce Mediation Clinic and worked as an Intern and then Fellow at the New York Legal Assistance Group Mediation Project. Following law school, Ms. McKinney clerked for the Honorable Rachel A. Adams of the Kings County Supreme Court, Matrimonial Part, and since the completion of her clerkship has been practicing matrimonial and family law exclusively. She has been named a SuperLawyers “Rising Star” for the New York Metro Area for 2019 and 2020. Ms. McKinney joined Kleyman & Associates, P.C. in 2017, and is now a partner in the firm. In divorce and family law, the key is to understand and focus on the law and not the drama.
