Ms. Dempsey received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, and her Juris Doctorate from Albany Law School of Union University. Ms. Dempsey is admitted in New York, Florida, and the United States District Court, Northern District of New York.
Prior to joining the Kleyman Law Firm, she practiced almost exclusively in the area of matrimonial and family law, addressing matters both domestically and abroad. Her experience has involved all aspects of domestic relations law including complex equitable distribution and contested custody litigation, visitation, support and relocation matters, modification, enforcement and paternity disputes, and orders of protection, paternity and guardianship proceedings. Ms. Dempsey’s practice has also emphasized mortgage foreclosure, commercial litigation, and pre and post-nuptial agreements.
As appellate counsel, she has contributed to the development of New York and Florida laws as they relate to father’s rights, support for dependent children, and pendente lite relief. As a court-appointed guardian ad litem for minor children, and proponent of the mediation process, Ms. Dempsey has utilized her experience to resolve divorce actions in an amicable fashion, maintaining the best interests of children as paramount.
Her efforts have been recognized by the Dade County Bar Association, Pro Bono Put Something Back Program, and the Dade County Bar Association Young Lawyer’s Section Law Week Pro Bono Project Honor Roll.
